titleOfInvention Method for production of biocompatible implant
abstract A biocompatible implant is produced by forming a titanium oxide film on the surface of a base material by a thermal treatment and irradiating the titanium oxide film with ultraviolet ray. In the method, the titanium oxide film may be produced by heating a base material comprising metal titanium or a titanium alloy in an oxidizable gas. Alternatively, the titanium oxide film may be produced by a sol-gel processing involving applying a solution containing a titanium compound on the surface of the base material and heating the base material. It becomes possible to provide a method for producing a biocompatible implant having a titanium oxide film excellent in a hydroxyapatite-forming ability.
