Systems and methods for detecting noise episodes and processing analyte sensor data responsive thereto. In some embodiments, processing analyte sensor data includes filtering the sensor data to reduce or eliminate the effects of the noise episode on the signal. In one embodiment, the process (600) of detecting and processing signal artifacts involves a sensor data receiving module receiving sensor data (602), including one or more time-spaced sensor data points, and a signal artifacts detection module, also referred to as the signal artifacts detector, or signal reliability module, is programmed to detect transient non-glucose related signal artifacts in the data stream (604). The processor module is configured to process the sensor data based at least in part on whether the signal artifact event has occurred (606). |
