titleOfInvention Optical element and manufacturing method thereof
abstract The invention relates to an optical element and a method for its production.n n n The optical element comprises a substrate 1, in which a passive waveguide 10, which has a thickness D and an upper edge 11 , and a laser waveguide 20, which has a thickness d and an upper edge 21 , are introduced, the passive waveguide 10 and the laser waveguide 20 are connected via a connecting surface 15 so directly in contact to each other, that between the passive waveguide 10 and the laser waveguide is 20 butt coupling, and between the upper edge 11 of the passive waveguide 10 and the upper edge 21 of the laser waveguide 20, a shoulder 25, which has a height H, is provided.n n n There is a substantially improved coupling between the passive waveguide 10 and the laser waveguide 20 . This solves the technical problem of the coupling of laser light into the waveguides 10, 10 ', 20 integrated in the substrate 1 . A cover 30 protects the laser material.
