abstract The invention relates to specific photochromic h-annellated benzo[f]chromene derivatives and the use thereof in all types of plastic materials, particularly for ophthalmic purposes. The invention especially relates to photochromic compounds which are derived from benzo[f]chromene, turn less yellow than comparable compounds available in prior art, and have maximum absorptions particularly in the long-wave range in the closed form while being very efficient in the open, colored form so as to be easily compatible with the indenonaphthopyrans widely used in phototropic lenses.
