abstract A pinch valve (1) is disclosed, comprising a tubular valve body (25) on the outer surface of which a transversely movable pinch element (28a, 28b) is arranged. The latter is operated by working means (34) which may be moved along the length of the valve body (25). The working means (34) are arranged in a working chamber (3), radially enclosed to the outside by a valve housing wall (5). Electrically operated position recording means (70) are provided to monitor operation by means of which at least one working position of the working means (34) can be recorded.
