abstract A novel manufacturing method of a contact lens with a mark, wherein the method affords better production efficiency and reduced uplift of the outside peripheral edge of the engraved mark in association with laser machining, as well as ensuring adequate surface roughness of the engraved mark, thereby advantageously achieving the dual aims of good wear comfort and good visibility of the mark produced by engraving; and a contact lens with a mark of novel construction. The method comprises the steps of irradiating a laser beam onto a location (72) on a die (34) which corresponds to an objective mark (26) while the location (72) is submerged in a liquid (66) to form an engraved mark (62), and transferring the engraved mark (62) via a resin mold (54) formed by the die (34) to impart the mark (26) to at least one of a lens front face (12) and a lens rear face (14).
