abstract The invention relates to a method for the production of a shape memory polymer article in its permanent form, characterized in that a composition that includes at least one thermoplastic polymer and a covalently crosslinkable oligomeric composition is shaped by a molding process and thereafter covalently crosslinked by a crosslinking process, and wherein at least one of the thermoplastic polymer or the oligomeric composition includes at least one segment, that can act as a soft segment to fix the temporary form of a shape memory polymer, as well as to shape memory polymer articles obtained by this method.
