A method of recovering fuel by decomposition of organic material at elevated pressure and elevated temperature, wherein at least a portion of the organic material is liquid at the reaction temperature. The organic starting material is decomposed at a temperature of 250-500 ° C and a pressure of 3-10 MPa in the presence of a hydrogen donor, a reagent for transferring hydrogen and an isomerization catalyst, whereby the octane number of the decomposition product is increased by isomerization. |
