abstract | A process for recovering non-ferrous metals, in particular copper, nickel and cobalt, from metallurgical residues containing these non-ferrous metals at an oxidation level greater than or equal to zero, in an electric arc furnace of alternating-current type comprising a plurality of electrodes, containing a bath of liquid copper, surmounted by a fluid slag comprising at least one melting-reduction phase, comprising the loading of metallurgical residues comprising non-ferrous metals on the bath foot contained in the free arc electric furnace, the melting of the metallurgical residues in the fluid slag or at the copper-slag-copper interface, the reduction of at least the non-ferrous metals to the level of zero oxidation, and the intense stirring of the foot copper bath by injection of inert gas, preferably nitrogen and / or argon, so as to avoid the formation of crusts and to accelerate the reduction reaction and passing copper-miscible non-ferrous metals into the copper bath foot. |
