abstract The present invention relates to novel nanoscale cellulose particles and to a process for their preparation. The cellulose-based particles obtained have weight- or volume-average particle sizes of less than 300 nm. The presentation of these nanoparticles takes place from amorphous cellulose or by amorphization of cellulose, optional subsequent hydrolysis and by introduction of energy after or during the dispersion into a water-containing medium.
