titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of a ketone or an aldehyde
abstract The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a ketone or an aldehyde, comprising the steps of: a) forming a reaction mixture by bringing a mixture of a starting aldehyde and a starting ketone into the gaseous phase; b) bringing the reaction mixture in contact with a catalyst, whereby the ketone and/or the aldehyde is/are formed, whereby at the onset of step b) the molar ratio of starting ketone to starting aldehyde in the reaction mixture lies between 9:1 and 100:1, whereby step b) is executed at a temperature lying between 320°C and 380°C and whereby the catalyst does not consist essentially of silica gel.
