abstract The invention relates to a deflecting device for conveying and deflecting at least one continuous filter tow (13). Said deflecting device can be coupled to a forming part (2a, 2b), especially a feeding system of a machine used for producing filter rods. The inventive deflecting device is characterized by a conveying mechanism (40) for pneumatically conveying the at least one continuous filter tow (13) as well as a deflecting apparatus (50) which cooperates with the conveying mechanism (40) so as to deflect the continuous filter tow (13) in a substantially pneumatically driven manner.
