abstract | A pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of endometriosis contains a progestin with antiandrogenic activity, preferably 17α-cyanomethyl-17-β-hydroxyestra-4,9-diene-3on (dienogest), cyproterone acetate or chlormadinone acetate in a daily dose up to twice the ovulation inhibition dose together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable excipients / carriers. The pharmaceutical composition according to the invention realizes both the reduction of endometriosis and the absence of a negative influence on the bone metabolism and the bone density and at the same time is able to tolerate the side effects known from conventional medicaments (eg hot flashes, acne, negative influence on the lipid profile) hold. The pharmaceutical composition is therefore suitable for long-term application. |
