An OLED device comprises a cathode (113) , an anode (103) , and a light-emitting layer (109) therebetween, and additionally comprises a layer between the cathode (113) and the light-emitting layer (109) including a compound comprising one and only one anthracene nucleus bearing no more than two phenenthroline-containing subtituents wherein said anthracene nucleus is substituted in the 2-, 3-, 6-, or 7- position with a phenanthroline-containing substituent. When such materials are included in a layer, such as an electron-transporting layer (111) , provide both desirable electroluminescent properties as well as good device stability. |
