titleOfInvention | Novel polypeptide and method for producing the same |
abstract | The novel polypeptide of the present invention contains a peptide unit having an amino acid sequence represented by the following formula (1) and a peptide unit having an amino acid sequence represented by the following formula (2). n-Pro-X-Gly- (1) n-Y-Z-Gly- (2) n In the formula, "X" and "Z" are the same or different, each represents Pro or Hyp, and "Y" represents an amino acid residue having a carboxyl group (e.g., Asp, Glu, and Gla). n The proportion (molar ratio) of the peptide unit (1) relative to the peptide unit (2) [(1)/(2)] is about 99/1 to 1/99. The polypeptide may have an apatite supported thereon. The polypeptide is free from a risk of an infection by a pathogenic organism or an undesirable side effect and is useful as a highly safe biomaterial or biocompatible material. For example, the polypeptide is useful for supplementing, repairing and/or regenerating a biological hard tissue and is also useful for a material of a cosmetic preparation, a food additive, and others. |
