The invention relates to a fertilizer-containing culture substrate made of pressed miscanthus and its use as a mulch substrate for soil cover and as a substrate for mushroom growing. The object of the invention is to enable the economically advantageous use of Miscanthus; In particular, on the one hand, the bulk density of a growing medium from Miscanthus should be sustainably increased and, on the other hand, an economical use of Miscanthus should be made possible. The culture substrate according to the invention consists either of small pieces, namely of cylindrical, spherical or polygonal pellets, or comparatively large-area plates, preferably circular discs, which consist entirely or predominantly of Miscanthus. For use as a mulch and mushroom growing substrate, it is sufficient for the Miscanthus layer to be applied on the floor to be 2 cm thick, since the Miscanthus swells to 3 to 4 times the volume when exposed to moisture and forms a closed substrate layer containing the moisture very good stores. |
