titleOfInvention | Device for implanting occlusion spirals comprising an interior securing element |
abstract | The invention relates to a device for implanting occlusion spirals (3) into body cavities and blood vessels, especially aneurysms (12), wherein the occlusion spiral (3) consists of a plurality of windings that can be displaced longitudinally inside a catheter (1) and at least one securing element (9) which extends at least partially through the lumen of the occlusion spiral (3), said securing element (9) being fixed in its end sections in the occlusion spiral (3) and comprising at least two wires. Every wire has a diameter of less than 0.02 mm. The use of a plurality of wires having a relatively small diameter for the securing element (9) allows high flexibility and high tensile strength, two effects which at first glance are mutually exclusive. |
