Therapeutic use of yessotoxins as human tumor cell growth inhibitors |
abstract |
The present invention relates to the therapeutic use of yessotoxins as human tumor cell growth inhibitors. The mechanism of action of yessotoxin (YTX) and analogs thereof is related to the activation of cellular phosphodiesterases and, accordingly, to the decrease of cAMP cytosolic levels. The result of this activation after administering YTX is human hepatocarcinoma cell growth inhibition. This cytotoxic effect of YTX on neoplasic cells can be used as a strategy to develop drugs useful in the treatment of tumor processes. |
