abstract | A method of making novel pendant acrylate- and/or methacrylate-containing polyether monols or polyols is provided. The method comprises i) providing a monomer mixture comprising at least one alkylene oxide, at least one oxirane compound containing an acrylate or methacrylate group, and at least one starter compound having at least one active hydrogen with equivalent weight of 31 to 8,000 g/equivalent of active hydrogen and ii) polymerizing the mixture in the presence of a double metal cyanide complex catalyst. The pendant acrylate-and/or methacrylate-containing polyether monols and polyols made by the above methods have between 1 and 20 pendant olefinic groups and a hydroxyl equivalent weight of 200-9,000 g/eq. |
