More particularly the invention relates to gelatin based layers that are hardened by an amine-amine crosslinking compound such as triazine type crosslinking compounds. Gelatins solutions used for such materials are buffered to control the hardening speed of the gelatin solutions. This invention also relates to applications of such hardened gelatin layers such as image recording materials but also applications such as test-substrates applicable for pharmaceutical or cosmetic industry.
