abstract An electrical power generator (10) comprising one or more fuel cells (14), a fuel chamber (12) and a fuel (44), wherein the fuel comprises an alkali metal silicide. nUpon reaction with water, the fuel (44) produces hydrogen which is consumed in the fuel cells (14), generating electricity, heat, and by-product water. This water diffuses back into the fuel chamber (12), producing more hydrogen. The power generator (10) runs without any attached water source or water supply other than the water contained in the system, initially.
