The present invention provides a novel means for cancer treatment and cancer diagnosis by elucidating that glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK3β) is involved in the survival and/or the proliferation of cancer cells. Specifically, the present invention relates to: a method for suppressing the survival and/or the proliferation of cancer cells through inhibition of GSK3β expression or inhibition of the activity of this enzyme (GSK3β) activated via phosphorylation of GSK3β tyrosine residue at position 216; and development of novel anticancer agents and a method for evaluating anticancer agents based on the inhibitory effect. |
