titleOfInvention | Water-soluble or water-swellable polymers, particularly water-soluble or water-swellable copolymers made of acrylamide and at least one ionic comonomer having a low residual monomer concentration |
abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing water-soluble or water-swellable polymers which have a low residual monomer concentration and which are especially based on acrylic acid and/or acrylamide and at least one additional water-soluble comonomer. According to said method, a polymerizing monomer solution is treated with electromagnetic radiation no sooner than after reaching the maximum polymerization temperature, whereupon the obtained gel is reduced in size and dried. Also disclosed are the water-soluble or water-swellable polymers obtained according to the inventive method, the use thereof in the hygiene industry, packaging industry, agricultural technology, agriculture and horticulture, cable industry or telecommunication, and food industry, and the use thereof as a flocculation aid and a drilling fluid in oil recovery. |
