abstract Disclosed is a coating composition comprising an SiO 2 -producing agent, the coating composition being 0.1 to 50% by weight, based on the total composition, of at least one antibacterial active ingredient in the form of (a) cationic, anionic or nonionic deacetylated chitosans and chitosan derivatives and / or (b) phenols of the group of the halogenated dihydroxydiphenylmethanes, sulfides, and ethers and / or (c) substituted quaternary ammonium salts of the alkylated phosphoric acid, said active ingredient being selected from at least two compounds from the aforementioned classes (a) to (c ), their preparation and use, coated products therewith and an application kit containing the coating composition.
