titleOfInvention Methods and apparatus for detecting exposure to hazardous substances
abstract An apparatus (10) for detecting exposure to at least one hazardous substance is provided. The apparatus includes a body (12) having a plurality of openings (14), and an attachment mechanism (16) coupled to the body. Each opening is sized to receive a cassette (18) for detecting the presence or absence of at least one hazardous substance. The cassette can include a colorimetric sensor (126) having a base layer (140) fabricated from a hydrophobic film, a colorimetric coating (142) for covering the hydrophobic film, and at least one hydrophobic membrane (144) for controlling the exposure of the specific substance to the colorimetric coating.
