abstract |
An alkaline battery-use anode active material of a layered crystal structure containing oxy nickel hydroxide. The anode active material has a diffraction peak at a diffraction angle 2θ position of 8.4-10.4 deg. due to X-ray diffraction by CuK α-ray. The alkaline battery has an anode containing an anode active material, a cathode containing a cathode active material and an alkaline solution as an electrolyte, and contains an anode active material having the above specific diffraction peak as the anode active material. A method of producing an alkaline battery-use anode active material of a layered crystal structure containing oxy nickel hydroxide has the step of oxidizing a layered-crystal-structure starting material consisting of β type nickel hydroxide in an air stream containing an alkaline solution or alkali to produce the above anode active material. |
