titleOfInvention Device for identification and verification of items with refundable deposit
abstract A device (101, 102) for identification and/or verification and/or sorting and/or refunding of items with refundable deposit such as glass or plastic bottles, cans and the like, is proposed. The device is comprising an opening (118) into which the item can be inserted, first means (10, 118) for identification and/or verification of the inserted item, wherein these first means are based on magnetic (10), electromagnetic and/or optical (118) methods, and comprising second means for either indicating the amount of refund or for direct refund of money. High efficiency in identification and/or verification can be provided in a relatively small device in that the item is introduced through the opening (118) into a substantially vertical, tube like cavity (106), and in that third means (107) are provided allowing to rotate the item along a principal axis of the tube like cavity (106) in at least one step of the identification and/or verification process. Preferentially concomitantly magnetic and optical means are provided on the item and are provided as first means in the device, and even more preferentially the magnetic means allow to read out and mark the item as having been refunded for increased security.
