The invention relates to surface-modified nanoparticulate metal oxides, in which the metal is selected from the group consisting of aluminum, cerium, iron, titanium, zinc and zirconium. The invention is characterized in that the surface modification has a coating with a copolymer P consisting of: A) 60 to 99 mol % of an N-vinyl lactam, and; B) 1 to 40 mol % of a monomer selected from the group consisting of: b1) C8-C30 alkyl esters of monoethylenically unsaturated C3-C8 carboxylic acids; b2) N-alkyl-substituted or N,N-dialkyl-substituted amides of acrylic acid or of methacrylic acid with C8-C18 alkyl radicals or; b3) the vinyl ester of aliphatic C8-C30 carboxylic acids or mixtures of these monomers. |
