abstract | The invention provides the novel amorphous rosuvastatin magnesium and process for preparation thereof from crystalline rosuvastatin magnesium, rosuvastatin methyl ammonium salt and from rosuvastatin lactone. Rosuvastatin magnesium is, chemically, (3R,5S,6E)-7-[4-(4-fluorophenyl)-6-(1-methylethyl)-2-[methyl(methylsulfonyl)amino]-5-pyrimidinyl]-3,5-dihydroxy-6-heptenoic acid, magnesium salt (2:1) of Formula (I). Rosuvastatin magnesium is an antihypercholesterolemic drug used in the treatment of atherosclerosis. |
