abstract |
Provided herein is the use of a cross-linked polysaccharide bead or grain for the manufacture of a composition for arresting bleeding and inducing rapid blood coagulation and clot formation at a bleeding or wound site of a mammal, a hemostatic wound dressing comprising cross-linked polysaccharide beads or grains associated with gauze, a novel hemostatic polymer composition comprising a substance containing uncharged organic hydroxyl groups and a substance containing at least one of a halogen atom and an epoxy group, which is characterized as inducing rapid blood coagulation and hemostasis at a wound or bleeding site. Methods of use of the novel polymer composition are also provided. |
