abstract |
The invention relates to a gas permeable membrane with a porous translucent membrane matrix built on by using a metal oxide wherein the membrane matrix is at least partially charged with at least one gas-selective compound whose optical characteristics changes upon an interaction with a corresponding gas species. Since the present membrane gas sensors have relative low sensitivity values towards the corresponding gas there is a strong need to provide gas-selective compound charged membranes which show an enhanced sensitivity. To provide for such membrane it is proposed that the average pore diameter of the pores of the membrane matrix ranges from 1 to 50 nanometers and the total pore volume from 1 to 30 mL/m 2 . |
