titleOfInvention Method and arrangement of controlling the printing of a thermal transfer printer
abstract A method and apparatus for controlling the printing of a thermal transfer printing apparatus having relative motion between a thermal transfer printhead and the print material, comprising a microprocessor (6) providing pixel energy data in the pixel energy storage (7) through energy value calculation and encoding, with a print data controller (4) for pixel energy data processing by decoding during printing, in a number of binary pixel data corresponding to the pixel energy value having the same binary value, comprising at least one pixel energy data processing unit (41, 42), a DMA controller (43), an address generator (44), a printer controller (45) and a phase counter ( 48). The DMA controller (43) allows access to the pixel energy data stored as code in the pixel energy storage (7) to provide the latter in pressure column fashion to the at least one pixel energy data processing unit (41, 42). The address generator (44) generates addresses for selecting the cached code during each phase of a number of phases. The phase counter (48) provides a phase count to a phase data conditioning unit (413,423) in which the code value A and phase count B are compared to generate binary pixel data serially fed from output D to at least one shift register (11,21) of the thermal transfer printhead.
