titleOfInvention Process for preparing a carboxylic acid ester by reactif distillation
abstract The process for the preparation of carboxylic ester (E) by esterification is carried out by means of a reactive distillation in a first column (1). The carboxylic acid ester is higher-boiling compared with the educts carboxylic acid (S) and alcohol (A). In the esterification, a solid catalyst is used. The esterification and a distillative separation take place in three zones, namely in a reaction zone (3), an upper separation zone (8) and a lower separation zone (4). A first top product (61) and a first bottom product (52) are produced. From the first overhead product, an aqueous phase (63) is separated from an organic phase (62). Heat (Q + ), which serves to drive the reactive distillation, is supplied at a temperature for which a pressure no greater than ambient pressure is established in the vaporized bottom product. The carboxylic ester is recovered from the first bottoms product with removal of a residual carboxylic acid and alcohol. The removal of carboxylic acid and alcohol from the first bottoms product is carried out by distillation in a second column (70). A second bottom product (71), ie the bottom product of the second column, which largely consists of carboxylic acid ester and small amounts of other substances, while heat is supplied at a temperature for which sets a pressure greater than ambient pressure in the vaporized bottom product.
