The invention relates to the use of implants combined with an anti-scarring agent in order to inhibit the scarring which can occur, when the implant is placed within an animal. This agent can be any suitable anti-scarring agent, i.e., a cell cycle inhibitor, and it can be used with a second pharmaceutical agent, including an antibiotic. Suitable implants include intravascular implants, a vascular graft or a wrapped implant, an implant with hemodialysis access, an implant which generates an anastomotic coupling, a ventricular assist implant, a prosthetic valve implant, a inferior vena cava, peritoneal dialysis catheter implant, central nervous system anastomosis, intraocular lens, glaucoma drainage implant, penis implant, endotracheal tube, tracheostomy tube, gastrointestinal device, and a spinal implant. |
