titleOfInvention Expandable medical device for delivery of beneficial agent
abstract Expandable medical device comprising: elongated struts (18) joined together to form a cylindrical device (12) which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder with a second diameter, struts having width and thickness in a radial direction, at least one opening (16) in at least one of the struts, and at least one beneficial agent provided in the at least one opening in layers, is new. Expandable medical device comprises: (a) elongated struts(18) , elongated struts joined together to form a cylindrical device (12) which is expandable from a cylinder having a first diameter to a cylinder with a second diameter; (b) struts each having strut width in a circumferential direction and a strut thickness in a radial direction; (c) at least one opening (16) in at least one of the struts; and (d) at least one beneficial agent provided in the at least one opening in layers Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an expandable medical device for treating cardiac arrhythmias, comprising: an expandable cylindrical device having struts with openings containing a chemically ablative, the openings being configured to deliver the ablative to tissue surrounding the device without permanently trapping any agent in the openings; and (2) a method of forming an expandable medical device by providing the device with struts joined together to form a device which is expandable from a cylinder with a first diameter to a cylinder with a second diameter; forming at least one opening in at least one of the struts, and delivering at least one beneficial agent into the at least one opening in layers.
