titleOfInvention | Method for producing aqueous polymer dispersions |
abstract | An aqueous polymer dispersion is prepared by radical aqueous emulsion polymerization of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a dispersant by mixing reactants at no greater than the initiation temperature and heating the mixture to a final temperature during the addition of at least one monomer. An aqueous polymer dispersion (I) is prepared by radical aqueous emulsion polymerization of at least one ethylenically unsaturated monomer in the presence of a dispersant. The process comprises: (a) mixing in a reaction vessel, at no greater than the initiation temperature, deionized water, an oil soluble radical initiator, a dispersant, optionally at least a partial amount of a monomer and optionally at least a partial amount of a water-soluble radical initiator followed by; (b) heating the mixture to the initiation temperature, followed by optionally adding; (c) additional water, oil-soluble radical initiator, dispersant and monomer with the main quantity of the water-soluble radical initiator and; (d) heating the mixture to a final temperature during the addition of at least one monomer. |
