abstract The use of ozone in liquid carbon dioxide as a sterilant for use in aseptic packaging. The low temperature provided by liquid CO2 further eliminates microbiological hazards. The combination of these two chemicals will enable the aseptic industry achieve higher process efficiencies and improved sterilization without the drawbacks currently seen with the use of hydrogen peroxide.
