titleOfInvention Automated system for detecting the fixation of biomolecules on a sample in three dimensions
abstract Solutions are passed continuously through individual sample cups (1) with sidewalls (3) and perforated bases (2), to make contact with the samples. Cups of identical diameter are stacked in a tube (5), to position and confine them. A circuit (50) passes solutions continuously through the cups under controlled pressure, from discrete storage reservoirs (17). Solutions are passed continuously through individual sample cups (1) with sidewalls (3) and perforated bases (2), to make contact with the samples. Cups of identical diameter are stacked in a tube (5), to position and confine them. A circuit (50) passes solutions continuously through the cups under controlled pressure, from discrete storage reservoirs (17). Solutions are introduced into the circuit on demand, individually or collectively. The preferably reversible electrical immersion pump (13) promotes circulation of solutions from the reservoirs. Sequential and coordinate control is provided for the pump and the multi-way solenoid valve (15). The circuit is a closed loop, the solutions being recirculated continuously, or is open to remove solution after one or more passages through the cups. Flow is upward, through the stacked cups. A variant design with a second multi-way valve permits solution recirculation and/or removal. Cups are cylindrical and of the same or different heights. Further variants and details in accordance with the foregoing principles are described.
