titleOfInvention Soft-output detector for differential transmit antenna diversity from orthogonal designs
abstract To achieve soft output detection for differential transmit diversity techniques from orthogonal designs without application of multiple input multiple output channel estimation techniques it is proposed to transform a multiple input multiple output channel into at least one equivalent single input single output channel using a differential transmit diversity scheme for determination of decision variables (12). In a subsequent step log-likelihood ratios for transmitted information bits are determined on the basis of the determined decision variables for delivery of soft-output bit decisions with reliability information (14). This approach allows for an effective application of soft output decision mechanisms also to a differential transmit diversity scheme from orthogonal designs and improves performance of successive detection stages, e.g., outer forward error correction decoders.
