titleOfInvention Aqueous emulsions of polyvinyl esters containing hydroxypropylguar
abstract The present invention refers to a protective colloid for the aqueous emulsion polymerisation of vinyl esters consisting of hydroxypropylguar having a degree of molar substitution from 1 to 4, and a 2% viscosity ranging from 1,000 to 25,000 mPa*s; the aqueous emulsions of polyvinyl esters containing such protective colloid are characterised by the fact the they exhibit improved mechanical stability, high stability to freeze and heath, and were found to be particularly useful for the preparation of paints having marked resistance to water.
