The present invention relates to a method fornproducing an alcohol and/or a ketone from ancorresponding alkene(s) in a gas phase in the presencenof water vapor by the use of an oxide catalyst.nAccording to the present invention, there is provided anmethod for producing an alcohol and/or a ketone bynbringing a starting material containing an alkene(s),nas a gas phase into contact with an oxide catalyst innthe presence of water vapor to carry out the reaction, nwherein the oxide catalyst satisfies the followingnrequirements: (a) it comprises an oxide(s) ofnmolybdenum and/or tin, and (b) the amount ofncarbonaceous substances accumulated on the oxidencatalyst is controlled to be within a range of 0.1 ton10% by mass, during the reaction. |
