abstract A method is disclosed for determining the suitability of an anhydrosugar alcoholnfor use in a polymer, comprising:n annealing the anhydrosugar alcohol at a temperature of at least 260°C for at leastnfour hours; cooling the annealed anhydrosugar alcohol to form a supercooled melt; and determining the color of the supercooled melt in comparison to a known colornchart. Also disclosed is a method for determining the purity of an anhydrosugar alcohol,ncomprising forming a solution of anhydrosugar alcohol in distilled water; and determiningnthe ultraviolet transmittance of the solution.
