abstract |
In an optical recording medium of ansingle-sided incident type having a plurality ofnrecording layers, recording/reading conditions (fornexample, tracking polarity, recording pulse strategy,nrecording recommended power, etc.) can beninstantaneously switched according to each of thenrecording layer, and recording or reading ofninformation can be accurately and surely performednunder recording/reading conditions adapted to eachnrecording layer. A control unit reads out layerninformation from one recording layer of the opticalnrecording medium in which the layer information isnrecorded in each of the plural layers, on whichnrecording or reading of information can be performednby irradiating a laser beam from one side thereofn(layer information reading step), and controls so thatnrecording or reading is performed undernrecording/reading conditions adapted to a recordingnlayer specified on the basis of the layer informationn(recording controlling step). |
