A method for the simultaneous determination of an antigen and an antibody specifically directed against this antigen in a sample is described, comprising the steps: (a) providing a solid phase on which a immobilized receptor capable of binding with the antigen to be determined is applied in a first test area and a immobilized receptor capable of binding to the antibody to be determined is applied in a spatially separated second test area, (b) contacting the sample with the solid phase and a free analyte-specific receptor bearing a signaling group or capable of binding with a signaling group, and (c) detecting the presence or / and amount of the antigen and the antibody by determining the signaling group on the solid phase.
