abstract |
A device (11) for performing a needleless hypodermic injection of a liquid medication contained in the device (11). The device (11) includes pyrotechnical means for generating within the device (11) a pressure necessary for injecting the medication. The device (11) comprises non-electric ignition means for igniting a propellant (24a) contained in said device (11). The ignition means comprise in particular an impact sensitive primer material (2) and a firing pin (5) for striking said primer material (2), said primer material (2) being so positioned with respect to the propellant (24a) that when the firing pin (5) strikes the primer material (2) the hot products of combustion of said primer material (2) ignite the propellant (24a). |
