abstract |
Ghrelin or its analog (I) is useful to prepare a medicament for the treatment of loss of body weight and body fat of a gastrectomized individual. ACTIVITY : Anorectic; Eating-Disorders-Gen.; Gastrointestinal-Gen. Effectiveness of (I) to treat loss of body weight was tested in gastrectomized rats. Animals treated with ghrelin showed an increased desire for food, while treatment of gastrectomized rats with the GH secretagogue MK677 (analogue of (I)) increased body weight. MECHANISM OF ACTION : None given. |
