abstract The invention relates to an imagining method which is used to observe the simultaneous propagation of a shear wave at a multitude of points in a viscoelastic diffusing medium (1). The inventive method consists in: generating the shear wave by using a network of transconductors (6) to emit at least one focused ultrasonic compression wave in the viscoelastic medium; subsequently, using the same network of transconductors to emit non-focused ultrasonic compression waves at a rapid rate, in order to produce a series of images of the medium; and processing the images thus obtained in delayed time in order to determine movements in relation to the medium during the propagation of the shear wave.
