titleOfInvention Combined and simplified ceramic or metallic volumetric absorber modules
abstract A simplified volumetric air receiver design principle combining or being free to combine various types of ceramic and metallic absorber modules (1) and support members (2) made from metals and/or ceramics with a supporting housing (13) on the same Solar Thermal Power Plant is described. The assembly for use in a Solar Thermal Power Plant, which has a receiver surface heated by radiation from the sun, comprises: - a number of volumetric absorber modules (1) having an inlet and an outlet and a fluid permeable interior there between for passing an energy-carrying fluid medium such as air, through it, and - a number of support members (2) having an inlet and an outlet and a fluid permeable interior there between for collecting the energy-carrying fluid leaving the outlet of the absorber modules and passing it further on, said absorber module being assembled with said support member into a VR-unit (20) and further connected with the supporting housing structure (13). The integration of the support member (2) and funnel (3) into the supporting structure simplifies the overall system with correspondingly lower cost.
