An indoline compound represented by the general formula (I): (I) (wherein the symbols have the same meanings as in the description) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of the compound; and a medicinal composition containing the indoline compound or pharmaceutically acceptable salt. The compound is excellent in ACAT inhibitory activity and lipid peroxidation inhibitory activity and is useful as an ACAT inhibitor or lipid peroxidation inhibitor. |
