abstract | An optical recording device includes an optical pickup (2), annasymmetry detection circuit (5), and a microcomputer (6). The opticalnpickup (2) corrects an aberration of an object lens based on an aberrationncorrection value using a liquid crystal panel (41) in the optical pickup,nirradiates a laser beam of multiple stages of recording powers on annoptical disk to form marks, and then reproduces the formed marks with anreproduction power. The asymmetry detection circuit (5) detectsnamplitudes of RF signals of the marks reproduced by the optical pickupn(2), calculates amplitude central values such that asymmetry takes anpredetermined value, and determines an optimum recording power. Thenmicrocomputer (6) performs spherical aberration correction to change anspherical aberration correction value from an initial value such that thenoptimum recording power takes a minimum value. |
